Get to know the people that make Ma’alot Farms special.

Philip Ohriner
Philip Ohriner is the co-founder of and president of Ma’alot Farms. Prior to embracing an intentional, homesteading lifestyle, Philip served as a congregational rabbi for close to a decade. Philip is passionate about family, friendship, food, and community building and serves on the board of a number of local and national non profit organizations. On the farm, Philip’s most treasured role is shepherding alongside his pack of livestock guardian dogs. Together, they protect and care for the flocks of poultry and herds of goats that provide Ma’alot Farms meat, cheese, eggs, butter, and milk, as well as the nutrients to regenerate our soil. When Philip isn’t with the herd you can find him powerlifting in the garage, usually with a dog “helping”.

Nancy Michaels
Born and raised in Saratoga, California, Nancy has deep roots in Silicon Valley and a lifelong connection to the community. After a successful four-decade career in sales and business development in the San Francisco Bay Area, she is now dedicated to supporting causes that align with her values and passions.
In August 2023, Nancy was introduced to the farm, and it was an immediate connection. As a committed lifelong learner, she has embraced the farm’s regenerative farming practices and the meaningful mission of providing organic food to socioeconomically disadvantaged families in the region. Nancy is excited to contribute to the board’s work and help further this important cause.
