Volunteering at Ma’alot Farms

We offer two ways to volunteer and be part of our farm community.
Choose the option that fits your availability and interest!

Volunteer Cohort

A multi-session program for those looking to engage deeply with farm life and community service.

Our Volunteer Cohort program offers a hands-on experience in sustainable farming and community building. Volunteers work in small groups, learning how to grow food while forming connections with others and the land. This program is ideal for those who want to build skills in agriculture and actively contribute to hunger relief in Silicon Valley.

Cohort members take part in every stage of food production, from preparing the soil to harvesting and processing fresh produce. As we donate most of what we grow, your work will play a vital role in providing high-quality, nutritious food to food-insecure communities. Along the way, you’ll witness the changing seasons, enjoy breathtaking views, and share moments of community—often over fresh pastries.

How It Works:

  • Participate in planting, harvesting, weeding, and food processing.
  • Work alongside a small, committed group of volunteers.
  • Learn about regenerative agriculture and sustainable farming practices.
  • Contribute directly to hunger relief by growing fresh, nutritious produce.

Volunteer Farm Chores

Most Wednesday and Sundays we offer a 2 hour window to help with essential farm tests and support local hunger relief.

Farming is a year-round effort, and our Volunteer Farm Chores sessions allow you to step in and help with the day’s most essential tasks. Whether you’re looking to get outside, support local agriculture, or give back to the community, these sessions offer a meaningful way to contribute—without a long-term commitment.

Each session includes at least two different farm tasks, depending on the season’s needs. Volunteers might assist with planting, weeding, mulching, or harvesting to help ensure a productive growing cycle. Every effort directly supports our mission of providing fresh, high-quality food to those facing food insecurity in Silicon Valley.

How It Works:

  • Assist with planting seeds, transplanting seedlings, or thinning crops.
  • Help with weeding, mulching, and maintaining growing areas.
  • Harvest and process produce for donation to local communities.
  • Work alongside farm staff and fellow volunteers in a collaborative environment.

How To Apply:
